Mechanic's Shack

The Mechanic's Shack is where Tank progression occurs. Nintendo says materials recovered during raids can increase stats such as attack power and HP. Nintendo UK also states that leveling grants Skill Points used for Tank upgrades.

These may be parallel systems: materials could purchase direct stat improvements while Skill Points unlock nodes or features. Until the menus are fully documented, do not merge them into one currency model.

Confirmed Tank progression outcomes

  • Higher attack power and HP are named examples.
  • Tanks gain enhancements through continued use.
  • A Tank can eventually equip three Gadgets instead of two.
  • Relic Powers can be equipped for additional buffs or adjustments.
  • Tanks can be switched between missions.

The exact requirement for the third Gadget slot and whether every Tank has an independent tree remain unknown.

Gadget Workshop with Shiver

Shiver helps craft new Gadgets in the Gadget Workshop. The nine revealed Gadgets belong to specific Speed, Power or Tactical Tanks, and Nintendo says additional Gadgets can be discovered as progress continues.

Gadget crafting should be kept separate from Gadget Part customization. Crafting creates or unlocks a Gadget, while Parts modify attributes such as damage, fire rate and duration or add effects such as ink explosions and knockback gas.

When comparing your own menu with this guide, check:

  • Recipe ingredients.
  • Story or facility prerequisites.
  • Whether crafting is permanent.
  • Part slot counts.
  • Part removal and replacement rules.
  • Duplicate Part behavior.

See All Gadgets for the announced list.

Weapon Stash with Frye

Frye assists with two confirmed weapon operations:

  1. Upgrading weapons.
  2. Turning weapons into materials.

This matters because the game contains 11 weapon types and more than 100 variations. Higher-level weapons are more powerful, while variants can improve traits such as range or ink efficiency. Rare weapons may also have special powers.

Before scrapping a weapon, check whether the game provides a collection lock, duplicate indicator or warning for rare powers. Those safeguards have not been confirmed. A safe editorial guide should not recommend mass dismantling before the conversion values and drop rates are known.

Big Man's information catalog

Nintendo says Big Man catalogs useful information. The exact interface is not public, but it may become the source for enemy, treasure, weapon or exploration records. Any specific category list is speculative until the released game is inspected.

Big Man's catalog is a useful in-game verification source because its descriptions can clarify names and mechanics that Nintendo's public pages do not spell out.

Building and improving facilities

Nintendo says players can build facilities that further optimize the treasure-hunting toolkit, and the UK page mentions upgrading the ship itself. The full set of facilities has not been revealed.

When documenting facilities, distinguish:

  • Mandatory story construction.
  • Optional performance upgrades.
  • Convenience services.
  • Collection or research facilities.
  • Cosmetic changes.

Do not publish a “complete facility list” based solely on promotional background images.

Changing difficulty on the ship

Tourist, Raider and Survivalist can be changed at any time on the Hideout Ship. The selected difficulty changes combat challenge but not available loot.

Still unknown:

  • Whether difficulty can be changed while a raid is active.
  • Whether a change resets a checkpoint.
  • Whether multiplayer uses the host's setting.
  • Whether achievements or challenge records track difficulty separately.

See the difficulty guide for the confirmed differences.

How the ship fits the overall progression loop

The Hideout Ship converts short-term raid pickups into long-term power:

Raid resultShip actionLong-term effect
Salvage and Spirhalite materials Spend at facilities or crafting stations Better gear, Tanks or base capability
Weapon drops Upgrade or dismantle at Frye's Weapon Stash Stronger equipment or recovered materials
Gadget Parts Install into compatible Gadgets Modified damage, fire rate, duration or effects
Skill Points Spend on Tank upgrades Greater customization and possible system unlocks
Relics Equip Relic Powers Additional buffs or behavioral adjustments
Discoveries Add to Big Man's catalog Information and possible completion tracking

This is why returning to the ship after a meaningful raid should be treated as part of the core game loop, not just a menu stop.

Efficient early upgrade strategy

The following is conservative early-game advice rather than a claimed optimal route:

  • Avoid spending all materials before seeing the next facility unlock.
  • Upgrade one comfortable Tank enough to learn the system, but test all three before heavy specialization.
  • Keep rare weapon variations until dismantling yields and special-power value are understood.
  • Prioritize an upgrade that improves survivability or ink economy if the game offers one early.
  • Check the retail menus for exact costs because promotional footage may not match the current build.
